Several years ago it became an interesting fad to see what other people had on their Ipods. Perhaps in a few years it will become mainstream to analyze RSS feeds. It’s already common in the blogosphere, but imagine it hitting USA Today (8th grade reading level).

Well I am cleaning mine up, I am sick of the crap. Some will get cut for good reasons, and some for petty shortcomings.

TO BE CUT:

  • Net Business Blog: This used to be good, now I think the Brit just tries to scrap up a few crappy things any idiot should know. And he never spell checks.
  • Mavericks at Work: Good Blog, interesting topics… I am just so sick of hearing about Zappos shoe store that I am willing to take drastic measures. And the posts are to long; I have hectic days.

STAYING:

  • Seth: I would be happy with just this one.
  • Foreign Policy: There is something to be said for insightful and intelligent.
  • Nimble Theory: Props for the Sendside invite, now I just have to take you up on it.

My new phonebook got dropped off at my door the other day.

I threw it in the recycle bin.

I don’t need a phone book.

I received some marketing material from A. G. Edwards today. It said:

“Plan For Your Taxes Year ‘Round”

And then reminded me not to ever let tax season escape my mind.

I would love to meet their marketing consultant, and ask them what in the hell they are thinking. Services are more useful when I feel they delegate and lighten my obligations.

I am all about customer service. It is not in my job description necessarily, but I take it upon myself to make sure that people are happy. The other day I had a phone call from a very upset individual who immediately chewed me out for his feelings of having been cheated. I was initially taken back, but I offered him my ear, time, and empathy.By the end of our phone conversation he seemed very happy, and pleased to have reached a human. In this particular company I see this attitude from the top down. It makes people happy, it boosts your reputation. That disgruntled customer has my cell phone number now.

Even before I came here I knew that a Senior Vice President would return your phone call, even if they had no idea who you were.

junkmail.jpgI get so much junk mail, and so do you. They spend so much on it, and I certainly never read it. There was a time, not so long ago, when the government was set on stopping e-mail spam. Why put so much effort into spam and not into stopping junk mail? Junk mail certainly is more of an ecological burden.

For a typical mailout I bet the price breakdown is something like this:

  • 2 cents for the ad/letter.
  • 47 cents for the postage.

So imagine this. Junkmail served up hot and fresh on a web browser. Each item remains up for One minute and you are compensated 20 cents per view. Everybody wins here. It’s also an opt in system which compensates only those who wish to participate. I might spend an extra 20 minutes a day if it all adds up to an extra mortgage payment. And your investment sure beats the mail that has a one way ticket to my recycle bin.
