Think oil is expensive? Try buying some wheat, this integral ingredient has advanced like a rocket in the last year. Up over 170%, the demand is not slowing. Cheese is more expensive; and in fact all the toppings are more expensive. Throw them together and you get one expensive pizza.
Food costs are going up across the board. If I were a major investor I would be purchasing farming land in obscure European countries and South America.
Imagine what a major terrorist attack would do to the American Economy right now.
Or even worse, further devaluing our dollar.
A failed UK accountant actually wrote a letter campaign to British mosques inciting a jihad against accountants. His justification was that attacking accountants would be “striking at the infidels where it hurts most”. He was convicted and sentenced… But only for two years.
Sometimes nature has a way of clearing out the underbrush with a forest fire. The Darwinian approach also applies to capitalism, and government bailouts hinder the natural course. How many times will the Government be forced to assist the airline industry. When will it become such a burden that it is no longer worth the capital. The free hand of the market must do its job.
And in the mean time Dubai is laughing at our inept government and Federal Reserve waiting to bid on the scraps. The weak should fall, but Bear Stearns insolvency is scary in that it points to a total economic meltdown.
If there is one thing I have always wanted its a plane. The pro’s and con’s of different planes are debatable, but one stands apart from the rest. The G550 is top of the line for the serious private aircraft owner. The choice among the super rich.
Well, Gulfstream just did one better with the G 650. While speed travelers may have chosen the Citation X in the past, that all goes out the window now by combining speed and cabin size in the G650. Get close to the speed of sound in luxury.
Top Gun did a great deal for recruiting efforts in the 1980′s.
Haven’t military ads been kind of boring stagnant for the last few decades? I bet there are some firms that could breathe some new life into recruiting muscle. I am sure their budget is impressive, and it would be a great account to land.
Perhaps the greatest modern misconception of the military is that of “ordinary”. The “An Army of One” campaign reminds me more of a Devry University commercial, and all to many people feel like the military is for migrants, minorities, and social rejects. Sometimes the service is fit for Princes (Harry), Kings (Elvis), and Leaders (Ron Paul, John Kerry, etc).
I don’t know about you, but I don’t jump at the tagline of doing more by 9:00 am than most people do in a day…
There come certain times in every venture when it becomes valuable to simply walk away. Cutting your losses is an admirable trait of any leader, and in most ventures there is nothing wrong with failing. Could somebody please remind Hillary Clinton of this….
The inner-party fighting is not doing the democratic party any good. The two candidates slinging mud back in forth is only hurting the eventual Democratic nominee. Hillary’s chances can best be summed up with this little story: I purchased a domain in an auction, HatingHillary.com, a few months ago when I tried to sell it in well know locations I simply could find no buyers. Even the girl from Register.com who called to try and get me to renew the domain laughed when I said it was worthless.
I have to admit I got a pretty good chuckle when I read the headlines stating “Clinton Apologizes to Black Voters” in reference to a campaign members resignation over a controversial statement. When you feel the need to apologize to any sector of voters, just quit while you are ahead…
