Truckers Striking at Economy

With the economy in a tail spin, airlines not moving folks like they used to, and congress calling on oil execs to testify, truckers have decided on a strike. The American Trucking Industry really is the backbone our economic infrastructure. A widespread trucking strike could cause a serious blow to the economy.

Apparently many truckers have decided that the cost of diesel is to high, and a strike is the necessary remedy. While their plight may be understood, I wonder who exactly are they striking against? The economy? The public? There is no diesel committee which can rectify this. Their only hope here is to curtail the economy so much that prices have to come down.

Even the idea of slowing the economy has its flaws for reducing diesel prices. WE HAVE PLENTY OF DIESEL. Supply is not the issue. Oil companies are not the culprit (despite popular belief). The only real solution would be to repeal federal taxes on diesel. Any way you cut it, a trucker strike would hurt the entire nation gravely.

The fallout is before us, and this ill-planned scheme will catalyze a major recession.
